The third-generation Cima, known as the Y33 series, made its debut in June 1996 as a complete model overhaul of the previous Y32 series. Breaking away from its predecessor’s subdued design, it embraced a bold and heavy appearance. It was powered by two engine options: the VH41DE and VQ30DET, a V6 DOHC 2987cc turbo engine. Additionally, the Cima was the first Japanese car to feature SRS side airbags as standard, showcasing its dedication to passive safety.
